European History in 3 Minutes

Learning history can be tough for kids. There’s so much to know and so many years to cover. But the importance of students learning history cannot be overstated. Many point out that kids can learn not only about the world around them but also the nature of humans. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Walter McDougall says:

“History is the grandest vehicle for vicarious experience: it truly educates…young minds and obliges them to reason, wonder, and brood about the vastness, richness, and tragedy of the human condition.”

Learning history gives kids the ability to think critically about the world they live in and learn from the past struggles and mistakes of people and countries around the world. It can also teach them something about themselves—the ideals they hold and how they want to see the world progress.

European history plays a particularly important role in history. This video is a fun way to give kids a quick overview of Europe’s development from 4000 BC through 2013. It’s also fun and educational for adults to watch.

In addition to videos, kids enjoy learning through interactive activities, and playing games is a great tool to engage them in learning. NeoK12, YouTube  and apps and video games are also great resource for teaching kids European history online. NeoK12 goes in depth into major events, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the French Revolution, and much more.
